Media Bias

Let me start off by saying that I don't mean to diminish the tragedy of the London bombings in any way. It was a horrible crime perpertated by heinous and ignorant people that believe violence can solve problems.

The AP (via Yahoo) reports that the death toll from the London Bombings has risen to 52 dead. Indisputably a horrible thing. The British are our longtime allies and these were innocent civilians murdered by violent terrorists.

The Washington Post's Foreign Service (again, via Yahoo) reports that violence in Iraq on Sunday has left 45 dead. Also a horrible thing. The Iraqis are also our allies and these were also inncoent civilians who were also murdered by violent terrorists.

So, the question is, why does the American media not devote bottom-of-the-screen, miniute-by-minute ticker tape coverage of the aftermath of the *daily* bombings in Iraq? Why are we not asking about the loved ones in Iraq with missing and murdered family members? Why don't we see stories on the Iraqis returning to work after the terror? Why no Lessons From Baghdad in Time Magazine?

Comments:
I agree with your assessment of societal bias. We see daily "Missing White Woman" reports, but (little or) nothing is said about missing women of any other color.

My title of "Media Bias" was meant to suggest something else. Reporting the bombings in London as a tragedy and the bombings in Iraq as from a "cost of war" perspective goes to further the war effort, something the MSM seems keen to do. The reasons for this are plenty and have been covered elsewhere at length.
